Uber Organ

I had the pleasure of seeing Tim Hawkinson’s Uber Organ in New York City years ago. It was one of the most magnificent pieces of art i have ever witnessed. Decidedly shmoove, the piece whipped through all the rooms of the gallery, playing extremely deep tones that echoed everywhere. I felt submerged in sound and owned by a creation larger than i could comprehend.

Function under form.

Yevgeniya Kaganovich’s series of curious plays with function. Check out the full series. (Lotta shmoove, some anti-shmoove)

Shmoovie – The Stuff

This movie is undoubtedly shmoove. The plot: Aliens or something create a white ooze that they sell as a marshmallow Fluff alternative. The ooze kills you. it’s better than silly. It’s The Stuff. (Nice type on the fake logo too)

Cloudish

Daniel Arsham’s three dimensional sculptures ride the shmoove line.

Beautiful Forms

Tara Donovan would probably fall under “Shmoovest” if the category existed. From afar, her forms, constructed using varying materials, are delicate on the senses. The movement that isn’t physically happening, undulates through the viewer’s consciousness.

I highly recommend visiting her extended work here:

Shmoove phone.

Shmoove phone.

Sadly… while this phone is pretty shmoove… it’s also pretty stainy.

Shmoove levitation

Lotte Thorsoe, Glass Artist

Levitating yet shmoove. This glass artist plays well with form. You want to simultaneously sit on it, squish it, lift it, and drop a bucket of red paint on it.
